India - an Overview 

• India, a secular and democratic country, is standing with population of one  billion.
• There are 3000 castes and sub-castes in which the Indian society is divided .
•  50% of the population has never heard the name of Jesus; 
• 330 million gods are worshipped; Hinduism is the major religion with 85% of India’s population;
• 80% people live in 600,000 villages. 500,000 villages have no gospel workers or church. 
• Born again Christians are just 2% out of the expected 3.5% Christians; 55,000 people die each day eternally separated from Jesus Christ.

Bethel and Church Planting
Church planting is the prime objective of Bethel . At present, we are planting churches in Theni District of Tamil Nadu , India .We encourage our missionaries in the villages to plant new churches by providing them monthly financial assistance. An important aspect of Church planting is to help the missionaries and the villagers to worship the Lord with freedom. The believers in the Indian village churches are mainly poor downtrodden people, who work as laborers and farmers.They cannot financially support the church construction work. They gather in the houses rented by us or under big trees or in some cases, under a thatched roof to worship the Lord. Financial assistance is required for erecting simple prayer halls for the purpose of Sunday worship, weekly meetings and Sunday school.
Our target is to see the churches should be reproducing, multiplying, and disciple making churches. Villages in Theni district  are remote places where millions of people are yet to hear the word Jesus. Our approach has been, identifying one family in that area, Evangelize to it, start a House cell Fellowship with that family, through that family, we reach out to the community, Disciple people from the Home cell Fellowship and Finally we start a church.

Vision and Mission

Bethel Church India is committed to reach each perishing soul, especially in the villages and towns, with the gospel of Christ and working with a vision to plant a church in each major village and town of Theni district of Tamil Nadu at first and then in  other districts and states of India. 

Persecution in the field

Just in last one decade itself thousands of pastors were persecuted, dragged to the street, nuns were raped, number of churches were demolished down to the roots and several were attacked or damaged. In spite our pastors are continuing their commitment in this faith battle sharing the good news and love of Christ seeking for the transformation in people lives. Focussing on the vision, pastors are walking miles each week and every day to reach the people, sustaining themselves with the limited resources in the remote corners to plant a church there... and the realities continue. Amidst opposition and challenges we  put our efforts to prepare the rural poor villagers towards the Kingdom.

Assist a Pastor

• Missionaries are considered pastors after planting the church in the respective village .The local church will support the pastor to some extent, however due to the  living conditions in the villages and town every pastor needs some pastoral assistance. 

• A minimum $ 100 would help a pastor to care his family, children’s education, etc.,
  

• Likewise $ 700-1000 would enable a pastor to own a two wheeler vehicle

Economy of the People of Seepalakottai is hinged to agriculture. They mainly depend upon seasonal monsoon for the crop. Majority of the people are daily wage laborers at the field. For their hard labor the landlords underpay them. Hence  they live in utmost poverty.We run a village church here which is a hut  with mud wall and people gather every fridays for fasting prayer and sunday worhip .If God willing we have planned to costruct a church in this village.Find some photos of the present church at seepalakottai  and Please remember this small village in your daily prayers .

 We have planned to construct atleast three villages churches in the next two years in Theni district .Your prayers will deinitely help us to take the gospel to thousands of people in Tamil nadu who have not even heard the name of The Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
